SCREEN PRINTING!

I recently invested in a massive amount of screen printing equipment, and I have been doing nothing but practicing and producing as much as I can over the last several months. I have been learning a lot and it's seriously the most fun I've had making art in years. I love it and I can't wait to share even more of my work.

I'll have these prints in my shop very soon, as well as rates for gig posters and other print jobs. In the meantime, if you'd like a screen printed poster featuring my designs for an upcoming show or event, please send an email to

Chalk Art!

This summer, I made some chalk art! I'm relatively new at it, but I've already completely fallen in love with it...it's just an insane amount of fun.

This is from the first annual ChalkFest, ten different artists each drew their interpretation of a page from Little Red Riding Hood. Later, one of the volunteers excitedly narrated the story to a large group of kids while walking from one illustration to the next. (My page was actually the cover, which is why I added the title.)

This robot rockin' a keytar is from the Music is Art festival. I drew this guy while listening to some ridiculously good techno at a nearby DJ booth. It was a truly awesome day.

Also, local blog Buffalo Rising took a few photos of me while I was out making these pieces, so I thought I'd share these as well!

Queen City Market

I just wanted to mention that I will have a table at the Queen City Market this Saturday at the Karpeles Manuscript Museum (453 Porter Avenue)! This is going to be an amazing event, there will be over 50 different vendors and there's so much variety, everything from original art to vintage clothing. Speaking of vintage, my lovely wife Alicia will also have a table where she'll be selling a bunch of awesome vintage apparel! Be sure to stop by if you're looking for some holiday gifts, or even if you just want to treat yourself to something unique while supporting local businesses & artisans!

Just wanted to mention that my Robot Madness mini coloring book is now available in the shop!

Featuring 16 original robot illustrations, these coloring books are kid-tested and kid-approved! Check out the fantastic job my adorable cousin Kara did with her awesome coloring skills -

(She even named the robots after my wife and I...! I can't even explain how delighted I am by this.)

Allen West 2011 - The Halfway Point!

Thanks so much to everyone who stopped by my booth on Saturday! I'm about to head out for the Sunday portion of the festival, and when I return I'll be busy updating the web shop with all sorts of new stuff. It's been amazingly awesome meeting so many people and I'm ridiculously excited to see a bunch of my original pieces headed to new homes!

I should mention that I recently created a Facebook page and I've got an art tumblr that I try to keep regularly updated. Also, Twitter!

Tumblr!

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned my Tumblr before, but since there hasn't been any real news in a while I thought I'd point it out again. I post a bunch of art there, including sketches, stuff from local shows and commissioned pieces that were never shown publicly. It gets sporadic updates right now, but I've got a ton of photos from the last year that I'm FINALLY getting around to posting, so expect a flurry of updates soon!

Art Show at Guerilla Gallery!

I just want to mention that my work will be on display at Guerilla Gallery for a few more days, at least through the rest of the weekend. I have a whole bunch of new pieces as well as a quite a few older ones that haven't been shown in a while. It's been really amazing having my stuff there, it's the first time I've had an entire gallery space dedicated to my work!

The current show is actually a split show, with my work in one area and Chris Svoboda's pieces in another location. The opening was a ton of fun, Chris played a great experimental electronic set and Lazy Ass Destroyer opened up the evening with some ridiculous jams. Alicia and I had a blast playing for the Guerilla crowd, there was some intense high five action going on!

After the show ends I'll still have a bunch of work available there, including some recently re-stocked shirts and prints. If you have a chance and you're in the Elmwood area, stop by and check it out!

NOMAD Release Party at the Burchfield Penney!

I think I've mentioned NOMAD here before, it's a local magazine that "functions as a portable gallery, showcasing the work of local creatives." It's a great publication filled with local art, photography and poetry, and I've been fortunate enough to be published in several issues. Well, they recently had a release party for the fourth issue at the Burchfield Penney Art Center, and I was one of 10 local artists that had my work on display during the event!

The event was actually the opening night of the RendezBlue Festival, which is a whole series of free art and music events. It was a lot of fun, and it would be a bit of an understatement to say that I was ridiculously excited to actually have my work on display in the Burchfield Penney.

I'd like to encourage everyone to check out the video below, it's a great new promotional film presented by the Buffalo Niagara Convention & Visitors Bureau and Paget Films. Not only does it highlight much of what makes Buffalo unique and interesting, but I'm ridiculously flattered that at the 4:29 mark, there's a closeup of one of my pieces at the College St Co-op!

Seriously, I can't explain how excited I am to be a part of this video. It's a very quick shot, but just to be a part of this in any way is really amazing. I'm so glad they included College St because it's absolutely the best spot to find local art in Allentown. Obviously I'm biased because I've been showing my work there for more than a year, but you can always see for yourself and stop by! (As usual, I'll have a couple of pieces on display, including this glow in the dark robot!)

I'm just really happy to see Buffalo presented in such a positive light. It's a reminder of why I'm still here and why I choose to live downtown.

Robot 1.0 Show at Blink Gallery

I will have a bunch of new pieces in this awesome show at Blink Gallery! I'm pretty excited because I've been experimenting with some new paints, and my new robot paintings...will glow in the dark. That's right, I am now painting glow-bots!

Shirts/Prints now available at Guerilla Gallery!

I'm ridiculously excited to announce that my shirts and prints are now available at Guerilla Gallery on Elmwood! It's an awesome shop packed with art, prints, shirts, jewelry, sculptures and more from a huge variety of local artists. Not only that, but you can even grab a cup of coffee while you're there! If you're into the kind of art featured regularly in magazine like Juxtapoz or Hi-Fructose, you will seriously love this place. It's a great addition to Buffalo and there isn't another shop or gallery quite like it.

They're carrying both the Orangebot and Devilguy shirts (Mens and Ladies styles in all sizes) and they've got one of each print in both 5x7 and 8x10 sizes, including quite a few that have never been in my online store and were only available at festivals. You'll also find my greeting cards there, as well as a couple of framed, original illustrations!

Guerilla Gallery is located at 1109 Elmwood Ave, (across from Coles and right next to Allentown Music) and is open Monday through Saturday from 8am-11pm, Sunday from 10am-3pm. Stop by and check it out!

New at College St for August

I'll have three new pieces at College St during August, including the owl and robot pair from the "live paint" on top of the Broadway Market during the Infringement "Rooftop Extravaganza" show. I had a great time painting this duo while The Albrights rocked out just a few feet away. (You can actually see me painting in the background in this video!) Thanks to everyone who came over to say hello, it was really flattering that people recognized my stuff and stopped by to chat.

The show opens Friday evening, and as always I highly recommend anyone interested in local art stop by. All of the artists that participate in the co-op have amazing and incredibly affordable art/photography for sale. It's a really eclectic group and there's something from just about every genre. Check it out!

New Paintings at College St

(UPDATE:
Both of the owls sold! They've been taken off the walls of the gallery and are on their way to a new home, so I'll be dropping off a new piece soon to fill that space.)

I only have a couple small pieces at College Street this month, but I'm pretty happy with the way this neon owl duo came out. They will be on display and available for purchase until the end of July. If you're interested in local art I would highly suggest you stop by, there's a wide variety of work from many great Buffalo artists. (Also, be sure to keep an eye on my Tumblr if you're interested in random robot art!)

Allen West was Awesome!

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Allen West Festival! It was great meeting everyone, and I'm really happy that so many of my robot paintings have found new homes! The few pieces I have left will be added to the store very soon, along with the new prints and a few other items that have only been available at shows.

I've only been showing and selling my work for a little over a year now, and it's just been such an amazing experience. Being able to share my drawings and crazy brightly colored robots is so much fun, and I truly appreciate all of the support and kind words from everyone who stopped by. Now it's time to get busy and start making some new stuff! Keep an eye on this site for updates on future shows, and be sure to check out my Tumblr if you'd like to see some of my random sketches and newer paintings.

Allen West Festival

I will be at the Allen West Festival this weekend, Saturday & Sunday from 11am until 6pm. My booth will be at the corner of Allen and College St, right in front of Lagniappes and the College St Gallery. I will have a TON of stuff, lots of paintings, prints, shirts, cards, magnets and more. I'll have special "festival" prices and deals on a lot of my work as well, and many of the canvas pieces I'll be selling haven't been available online. If you have a chance, stop by and check out the event!

Robot Sale!

The "We Robot" show was a great success, but now that it's over I can put my paintings back up in the web store. To celebrate the occasion, I've taken at least $10 off all of the canvas paintings! This sale will last until the end of Sunday (5/9), so if you've had your eye on one of these robots, this is the time to grab one!
